Pavlos Tsakonas studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts (2003–2008) and holds a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the same institution (2025). His practice moves between painting and material-based approaches, with an emphasis on systems, repetition and spatial structures. His work draws on processes from science and technology, incorporating grids, modular forms and rule-based compositions to construct images that reflect complex networks. In recent years, his practice has expanded through the use of found objects, often sourced from urban environments and reconfigured into new visual compositions. Through processes of reuse and rearrangement, his work explores the transformation of existing forms and the relationships between material, space and process. It focuses on the tension between control and chance, structure and entropy, engaging with questions of environment, perception and contemporary living conditions. He has presented nine solo exhibitions, as well as large-scale works in public and private spaces. He has participated in group exhibitions and events including Parallel Vienna (Kunstraum am Schauplatz, Vienna, 2014), Shell, Politics of Being (curated by K. Prapoglou, Athens, 2018), In Total Light (Allouche Benias Gallery, Athens, 2019), Overview Effect(TiFF, MOMus, Thessaloniki, 2019) and Open-Ended (curated by G. Liapi, Zoumboulakis Contemporary, 2022). In 2018, he was awarded the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Artist Fellowship by ARTWORKS, and in 2026 he was selected as an ARTWORKS Grantee.
