NOTHING WILL KEEP US/TOGETHER explores fragmentation through choreography, with fragments of the body taking centre stage. In a reality that crushes us, transforming fragmentation into a literal state reveals that wholeness is neither a given nor a starting point. On the contrary, unity becomes a journey, discovered as fragmented bodies attempt to assemble themselves into a new, functioning multitude.
The work consists of dance sequences performed by one or more body parts independently: a hand dancing solo, a distant foot, a back, a chest. Through these sequences, it attempts to create rhythm from the tiniest possible movement. It asks: How can I dance when there is no whole body? Can a foot dance all by itself?
Like ELECTRIC WRATH, the previous work by Kouloukouri/Cie RE-SISTERS, NOTHING WILL KEEP US/TOGETHERis minimalist, with no costumes or set design. It takes place in complete darkness, with the performers themselves ‘wearing’ the lights. This approach to lighting allows bodies and body fragments to emerge unexpectedly from the void of the stage.
NOTHING WILL KEEP US/TOGETHER began as research for a duet in February 2026. The project was selected for the StudioLab programme at the Centre national de la danse (CN D) and for a residency at the Ménagerie de Verre in Paris, where Kouloukouri developed the work.

Sofia Kouloukouri (b. 1987, Thessaloniki) is a visual artist, performer, choreographer and art historian. Working through endurance and narration, her practice addresses literal and affective forms of weight as a burdensome feminine inheritance rooted in the education of girls, myth and religious doctrine. Kouloukouri’s work has been presented at institutions and venues including Bourse de Commerce – Pinault Collection (France), Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles (France), Roman Road (UK), Théâtre du Grütli (Switzerland), Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Buenos Aires (MACBA) (Argentina), Musée cantonal des Beaux-Arts (MCBA) (Switzerland), Palais de Rumine (Switzerland), MIR (Greece), Kunsthal Charlottenborg (Denmark), Istituto Svizzero Roma (Italy), Art Athina (Greece) and Museo Nacional y Centro de Investigación de Altamira (Spain). Her writing has been published by NERO Editions, Miami Books and The Art Newspaper. Her first book, Artistes Femmes et Travail du Sexe, was published by L’Harmattan in 2025. Since 2024, Kouloukouri has co-curated the film programme Pleasure & Disobedience with Alexios Seilopoulos. In 2022, she received a Bourse d’aide à la création from the City of Geneva. In 2024, she participated in ORGANISMO, TBA21–Academy’s research programme on art and critical applied ecologies. In 2025, she was selected by the National Museum of Contemporary Art Athens (EMST) for a residency at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris. In 2026, she was selected as an ARTWORKS Grantee.
