Imitating the affectionate appropriation of harsh terms (as with the series lunatic > looney > looloo) and referencing both the academically acknowledged “delulu” and the original Greek title (ΤΟ ΛΩΛΟ—“to” as in “tomato,” “LOL,” and an “oh”), DA LULU addresses deviation from the norm, the fragile edge of mental sanity, the in-between state that stretches from “doing alright” to what is called madness. The world is burning, wars erupt everywhere, social inequity deepens—so how could anyone truly be “doing alright”? And why would anyone even want to?
DA LULU transforms that dark state into a luminous moment of entertainment, channeling the spirit of the jesters of old. Yet behind the dazzling costume and the extravagant spectrum of movements, absurdity takes over, posing questions: How do we make sense of this confusion? And is sense-making even necessary? If not, how do we come to terms with it? What can we do to be okay?
DA LULU is a solo(lo) created by Pier Mazenly to throw himself onto the stage, foster a direct and vibrant connection with the audience through dance and comedy, and share curiosity, laughter, surprise—and, let’s be delulu—love.

Pierre Magendie often introduces himself by saying he is “fine—or at least trying to be.” It is both an icebreaker and a way of pre-empting the questions his unconventional path might raise. Born and raised in France, he moved to Athens in 2006. Drawn at first by the ancient ruins, he gradually found his place in a society caught in a cycle of disintegration and reconstruction. A philologist who became a dancer, he now embraces his many facets, relishing their ever-evolving blend. After more than a decade devoted to collaborations, whether as a performer (Sebastian, Nova Melancholia, Athens, 2024) or as assistant choreographer in nearly twenty works by Antonis Foniadakis across Europe—his own artistic practice has come to the fore. In 2011, together with Christina Karayianni, he founded KTC, an informal platform bringing together dance, humor, costume, and live music through performances and video works. In the same spirit, he created TANK TOR, his first sewing performance, presented at the symposium Coming Times by undercurrent (Athens, February 2025).
