Eva Vaslamatzi, independent curator and SNF ARTWORKS Fellow 2019, spent 6 weeks in Istanbul where she conducted research and indulged in the city’s contemporary art scene while in residence at SAHA Association. As part of the curatorial residency, Eva visited art artist-run spaces (b-a-s, pose, PASAJ), cultural institutions (Arter), arts organizations (Protocinema and Borderless book fair, IKSV), museums (Pera Museum) and other artist residency programs (Gate 27).
Her research during the curatorial program at SAHA resulted in the curation and production of the exhibition “I heard it from the valleys” featuring new works by Greek and Turkish artists related to the expansive field of folk art.
