Prisca Meslier
Curatorial Residency Program in Athens: November 2025
Born in 1989 in Porto-Vecchio, she lives and works between Corsica and Paris. She studied Art History and Archaeology at the Sorbonne University and at the École du Louvre, where she conducted academic research on the survival of iconographic motifs since the Renaissance. Her work primarily focuses on contemporary artistic production in the Mediterranean basin and on the legacy of Mediterranean culture, explored through the language of myth, intersubjective encounters, and the notions of home and colonization.
Also active as a consultant in art acquisition and collection care, Prisca Meslier co-founded De Renava with Dumè Marcellesi in 2022. This non-profit organization is devoted to promoting both Corsica’s insular heritage and contemporary art. Based in Bonifacio, it welcomes major creations from the international art scene and collaborates regularly with cultural institutions across Mediterranean countries, such as the Centre Pompidou.
On Thursday, November 27, Prisca Meslier gave a curatorial talk, moderated by our dear fellow and curator Eva Vaslamatzi. During her conversation with Eva, Prisca reflected on her residency in Athens and how she has been experiencing the city as a Mediterranean laboratory shaped by artistic engagements, collective and nonprofit initiatives, and dynamic circulation. Drawing on encounters with the emerging local scene, the discussion explored how myth, heritage, and vernacular knowledge inform contemporary artistic and curatorial practices. The talk, “Currents of the Mediterranean: Notes from an Athenian Residency,” also touched upon island-related perspectives and the shared cultural currents that influence curatorial approaches grounded in dialogue, situatedness, and interconnected geographies.
