Join us this Thursday for a curatorial talk by Raphael Fonseca, moderated by curator and ARTWORKS Program Coordinator Panos Giannikopoulos.
In this presentation, Fonseca will discuss his recent curatorial projects, with a particular focus on the 14th Mercosur Biennial, held last year in Porto Alegre, Brazil. The talk will also explore aspects of the curatorial process and reflect on the role of the curator today, followed by a conversation with the audience.
Raphael Fonseca is Curator and Head of Modern and Contemporary Latin American Art at the Denver Art Museum. A Brazilian-born curator and writer, his practice explores the circulation of images across temporalities and geographies. He has curated major international projects and currently serves as curator of the Taiwan Pavilion at the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia.
Fonseca’s residency is part of the ARTWORKS Athens Curatorial Residency (A/ACR)—an initiative designed for international curators and art writers seeking to engage meaningfully with Athens’s contemporary art scene.
