MAVRA MAKARONIA FOREVER is an experimental film of approximately 20 minutes, a handmade construction and a poetic and visual chronicle exploring the possibility of a miracle within the smallest of things, the possibility of finding a dialect for healing, and an oblique way of looking at the losses of everyday life.

The work is composed of interior and exterior footage collected by the artist, small performances and installations made with household materials, and spoken language, which functions as a structural element of the narrative and draws on her written and oral notes. There are no actors and no equipment beyond a mobile phone. Its duration is roughly the time it takes for the water to boil and the pasta to cook. The narration and editing are dense, fragmentary and associative, structured around the vocabulary of the artist’s own visual practice.

The action unfolds through the artist’s everyday life in an Athens apartment that also serves as her studio, in the kitchen and on the street, through her position as a gendered subject, an artist, a poet and a customer of the algorithm. A hybrid of documentary, poetry and Instagram Stories, the film moves through questions of identity, gender, domesticity and locality, material conditions, art and language. Joy, humour and surprise, tenderness and dissent are concealed within the most literal, mundane and ephemeral expressions of everyday speech and orality.
